Complete Repair of Interrupted Aortic Arch with Ventricular Septal Defect in a Premature Weighing 1600 Grams A Case Report

A premature neonate with gestational age of 32 weeks and birth body weight of 1650 grams was diagnosed to have type A interrupted aortic arch, perimembranous type ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, and patent ductus arteriosus. One-stage complete reconstruction of aortic arch and concomitant repair of intracardiac defects was performed at age of 13 days with body weight of 1600 gr...

Morphology of the ventricular septal defect in two types of interrupted aortic arch.

Whether coarctation or interruption (IAA) of the aorta, ostensibly similar in morphology (and management), result from the same or different developmental errors can be inferred by examining the pattern of associated anomalies. Among the most common associated lesions, especially in IAA, is ventricular septal defect (VSD). Although muscular and perimembranous VSDs are the most common in aortic ...

Neonatal repair of right interrupted aortic arch, aberrant left subclavian artery, ventricular septal defect and retroaortic innominate vein.

We report a rare case of neonatal biventricular repair of a right interrupted aortic arch (type B), with an aberrant left subclavian artery, ventricular septal defect and retroaortic innominate vein in a 4-week-old, 2.7 kg neonate with DiGeorge syndrome. The patient had an unremarkable postoperative recovery. We discuss the anatomy of this rare congenital anomaly, its surgical implications and ...

Aortopulmonary fenestration and aortic atresia. Report of an infant with ventricular septal defect, persistent ductus arteriosus, and interrupted aortic arch.

Most reported cases of aortopulmonary fenestration are discrete openings between the main pulmonary artery and the aorta, distal to the outflow valves, and thus are amenable to surgical correction using cardiopulmonary bypass (Bosher and McCue, I962; Deverall et al., I969; Gross, I952; Gasul, Fell, and Casas, I951; Hurwitz, Ruttenberg, and Fonkalsrud, I967; Kalter et al., 1970; Meisner et al., ...

Interrupted aortic arch and aortopulmonary window associated with complete atrioventricular septal defect.

We report a rare case of a neonate with interrupted aortic arch, aortopulmonary window and complete atrioventricular septal defect. To the best of our knowledge, this unusual triad has not been previously described. The main question of the surgical strategy for CAVSD, in setting of associated defects, is to classify the CAVSD as balanced or unbalanced.
